The Rt. Rev. Robert P. Price, Head of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas
As the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas the Rt. Rev. Robert P. Price serves the administrative needs throughout the diocese and is chief pastor for more than 25,000 Episcopalians, more than 180 clergy and over 60 congregations and ministries. The geographical borders of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas reach north to Oklahoma, east to Arkansas, south to Corsicana, and west to Tarrant County.
Robert was born and raised in southern California. After receiving a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in American History, he became a teacher in a private school in St. Louis, where he met his wife, Kate. He then entered a Ph.D. program in History at Yale University before he met the Risen Jesus and heard a call to ministry. After completing his M.Div. at Yale, he has served on the staff of churches in St. Louis and Dallas and was called to be the Rector of St. Dunstan’s, Houston in 2005. After 13 years of blessed ministry there, he accepted the Bishop and Vestry’s invitation to begin a new chapter as Dean at St. Matthew’s Cathedral. Bishop Robert has also served as Canon for Congregations for the Dallas diocese. Along the way, he and Kate have had three boys: Matt, Thomas, and Chris. Bishop Robert is passionate about preaching and teaching on the Scriptures and leading a community in which a vibrant life in Jesus Messiah leads us all into God’s work of New Creation.
Robert was elected as Bishop Coadjutor during a Special Convention in May 2025 on the second ballot. He was consecrated in September 2025 at Church of the Incarnation in Dallas. Robert was installed as the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas in January 2026. Robert now serves as the diocese's eighth bishop, after the retirement of the Rt. Rev. George Sumner in December of 2025.
